TRIBUNMANADO.CO.ID - My beloved Manado Independent School (MIS) molds me to be who I am today.

It’s been 9 fantastic years since I started my journey in this institution, and until now, MIS makes me feel that it is my second home.

I still reminisce the first time I arrived at MIS for kindergarten, I had barely any knowledge, most especially on speaking English.

However, with the help of my MIS teachers I'm pleased to say that now, I have gotten very comfortable with the language.

I will always be truly grateful to MIS for that aspect of my life.

Indeed, MIS helps me to bloom and grow to the individual I am now.

When you have stayed for nearly a decade at a school, you also get to see its improvement.

I witnessed and experienced firsthand how MIS improves.

With the improvement of the facilities and programs, us, students also learnt well.

It gives us a chance at its well-known facilities, and beneficial programs.

Since I was in second grade, I’ve been looking forward to the camping program particularly, that is only available to 4th grade and above.

Truth be known, I have yet to be disappointed each year; the activities prepared are always a thrill, especially my favorite, the track and trail.

Aside from camping, MIS also prepares other programs which allow each student to grow and be a better individual.

In particular, the Week of Prayer which allows us, students, to see how God works in our life and strengthen our faith in Him, the charity events that encourage us to lend a hand to those who are in need, the concerts that hone our skills and talents, and all the other programs that are always entertaining and valuable for the students growth.

Another thing I am forever grateful to MIS for is the chance I have been given to participate in various competitions.

As I mentioned, I was not the most knowledgeable student back when I first arrived.

However, the school did not look down on me, rather, they help me to improve and be the best that I can be.

Through the help of my teachers and the support system I have in my second home, I was able to win different competitions I used to never dream of.

I could hardly believe that the village girl who only knew her ABC’s and basic numbers would be taught, motivated and assigned to represent the school in a National English speech contest will get the second place during the semi-final round.

My nine years in MIS have taught me a lot of things.

It taught me how to make friends, and treasure them for they are always have my back.

As one of the student leaders of the school, having people supporting and helping me is splendid.

I don't just mean my fellow students, but also my amazing teachers, and our respected administrators and staff.

MIS does not only sharpen students’ mind, but also nurture them with love, care and support.

Certainly, MIS allows each student to grow holistically and make sure that no one is left behind.

These make my stay in MIS happy and fulfilling.

MIS my beloved school, my second home.

I won't give it up for the world.
