I am a new 11th Grade student of Manado Independent School.
Even though I am a "newbie" in the growing campus community of MIS, it has already opened up several opportunities for me.
In MIS, students are always encouraged to join competitions or events that can test or hone their talents and skills.
Recently, I was given the unique opportunity to enhance and share my flair for writing by joining the Trinity College Essay Writing Competition.
I decided that since my school encouraged me to join, I needed to actively participate.
I was told to write an essay about how a good leader should be influential.
Inspired by the value-laden lessons gleaned from my different classes in MIS, I was able to present a compelling argument in my essay that a good leader is not only an influential figure but also someone who embodies integrity in all his endeavors.
By the grace of God, my work was recognized as one of the “Highly Commended” essays, which meant that among the 680 participants around Indonesia, I was in the 9th place.
True enough, hard work always leads to success. I am truly glad that MIS provided me the chance to join this competition.
I am also grateful that I am part of the MIS family, a welcoming and vibrant academic community that provides us with good education as well as avenues to explore and reach our potential through its varied activities, made possible especially by its partnership with educational institutions abroad such as the Trinity College in Australia.
